Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia, met with Alain Berset, Secretary General of Council of Europe. The administration of the Government of Georgia distributes the information.
The information reported that the meeting in Budapest, held within the framework of European Political Union Summit, discussed the fruitful collaboration between Georgia and the Council of Europe. This cooperation is a significant contributor to the implementation of reforms in the country’s path to European integration.
“The parties also discussed challenges facing Europe’s safety and the situation in occupied territories of Georgia. The role of the Council of Europe was discussed in the process of peaceful conflict settlement and confidence building. This included through humanitarian projects and dialogue mechanism. The importance of the consolidated reports of the Secretary General of Council of Europe, and the annual decisions of Committee of Ministers were also highlighted.
The information stated that the Prime Minister expressed his willingness to continue deepening the cooperation with the Council of Europe, and highlighted the important role of this organization in the process of strengthening the democracy, human rights, and rule of law across Europe.
