**Georgia‘s Path to the European Union**
The government of Georgia wants the country to join the European Union. This was stated by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at a meeting of ambassadors in 2024.
The Prime Minister said that some countries are using this topic for their own gain, but Georgia is still moving forward towards joining the EU. He mentioned that in December last year, Georgia was given candidate status, which is a big step forward.
**Meeting Commitments**
Georgia has been working hard to meet its commitments under the Association Agenda. This means they have been fulfilling their promises to the EU. By 2028, they plan to have completed over 90% of these tasks. They also want to finish more than 90% of their obligations under a Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) in just four years.
**Economic Growth**
Georgia has been doing well economically. It is growing faster than any other country in Europe or the wider region. This is an important factor in joining the EU. The government plans to keep this growth going and make it even stronger.
**Looking Ahead**
The Prime Minister said that by 2030, Georgia will be ready to join the EU as a full member. They are working hard to meet all their commitments and get ready for this big step forward.
