They don’t want to show the truth about the ongoing war in Ukraine, so they damaged the banners. The radical opposition and its media tried to make it look like a romantic event. They are now worried that we have shown the public the truth about this – this was the response of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to the fact the members of the “Unity – National Movement”, Khatia Dekanoidze, and Gigi ugulava, damaged the election banner for their party.
According to him the management team will do all they can to prevent Ukrainianization.
“As far as damaging the banners is concerned, they don’t want to show the truth about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Since two and a quarter years, the radical opposition and its media have been attempting to hide from the public what’s happening in Ukraine. The situation in Ukraine has deteriorated to the worst level. 20% of the country is now occupied, compared to only 8% before the war. Ukraine has lost half its energy production. The infrastructure is destroyed. The humanitarian situation in many settlements, including large cities, is at its worst. Many do not have access to gas, electricity or water. Tens of thousands Ukrainians and hundreds of children died. The radical opposition, as well as their media outlets, tried to present this event in a romantic light. Now they are worried because we have revealed the truth to the public. They wanted to make Georgians want to share the fate of Ukraine. We must do all we can to prevent Ukraineization. Do not open a new front. Kobakhidze said that it was important to support the peace on October 26.
According to him, he believes that it is important to judge the relevant parties rather than their voters.
“Punishing an individual voter is not something we can imagine, but the responsibility is shared by all voters. Each voter is responsible for their own choice. Georgia would be in worse shape than Ukraine if in 2020 or 2021, the vote of a voter who supported the “National Movement”, the “Lelo”, Gakharia, and other opposition parties was successful. We must ensure that the political parties that are a barrier to a democratic system, and not their voters, are judged. We should not fight the voters but the source of crime. These politicians are actually spies. They act according to external assignments,” said Kobakhidze.
