Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, spoke out against politicians and wealthy NGOs who he says were involved in organizing violence during recent events.
Kobakhidze said that these individuals hid in their offices while others suffered. He expressed sorrow for injured police officers, protesters, and journalists. The Prime Minister also pointed to the leaders of rich NGOs who supported violent actions but stayed hidden in their offices.
He mentioned that a number of activities were allegedly financed by these wealthy NGOs, including the purchase of special equipment. Kobakhidze stressed that if there is evidence, the leaders of these NGOs cannot escape responsibility according to the law.
The Prime Minister criticized politicians and NGO leaders who hid while others faced harm. He noted that some people involved in violent gangs may face several years in prison.
