They know the real ratings of the parties in the radical opposition. Everyone knows that “Georgian Dream’s” rating is around 60 percent, and the collective “National Movement”, is doomed to a ninth, most severe, electoral defeat. In this context, the party offices are not stopping talking about the arranged provocations that, according to their calculations should make corrections during the elections – said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at a briefing in the office of Georgian Dream.
Irakli Kobakhidze urges the law enforcement agencies to be cautious and to work with particular attention to prevent provocations.
According to him the governing team would do everything possible to ensure the election process continued in a calm environment, and that voters could make their choice peacefully on October 26.
“In light of the suspicious entry of Darcho Khechuashvili into Georgia and the conversations that are taking place in the party offices for the radical opposition, a call is made to all law enforcement agencies during the next two weeks to be extra careful and to work with a special attention to avoid provocations. You can all see the election campaign taking place in a calm and peaceful environment. This will further reduce the chances of the “National Movement”, a collective focusing on radicalization, succeeding. The OSCE-ODIR report released yesterday confirmed that the electoral environment is competitive and free. In this context, it is not surprising to see that the radical opposition has now turned its attention entirely towards provocations.
We will not allow anyone to disrupt the peace in the country. The management team will ensure that the election is conducted in a peaceful atmosphere and that voters are able to make their choices on October 26. We urge the radical opposition not to plan provocations. “Any provocation will be met by the harshest response of the state,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.
