**Georgia Picking Ambassador to US, Wants Better Relations**
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze says they have chosen a candidate for the country’s ambassador to the United States. The process has already started and is expected to be completed soon.
In an interview with the First Channel, the Prime Minister said that this information will be shared publicly later. He also emphasized that restoring the strategic partnership with the US from scratch is one of their top foreign policy priorities.
**Resetting Relations**
Kobakhidze stated that they want to reset relations with the US and start a new chapter in their strategic partnership. This would involve drafting a concrete roadmap outlining specific tasks and priorities important to both countries.
He also noted that there is a value-based alignment between Georgia and the US, which is publicly evident. However, he added that the success of this reset will depend on the steps taken by both sides, particularly how decisively the “Deep State” in the US is defeated.
**Meeting with US Ambassador**
The Prime Minister emphasized that the meeting between their Foreign Minister and the US Ambassador was initiated by the Georgian side and was arranged promptly. He also clarified that there were no discussions about snap elections during this meeting.
Kobakhidze stated that any reset of relations must be based on mutual interests, fairness, and a clear understanding of each other’s priorities. He added that Georgia is an independent and sovereign state and will approach all relationships from this standpoint.
