Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, recently spoke out against foreign entities that are supporting violent protests in the country. He said that these groups are stirring up anti-European sentiments among Georgians.
Kobakhidze called on foreign entities to stop encouraging violence and instead support peaceful protests. He noted that some of these groups have even referred to violent demonstrations as “peaceful”.
The Prime Minister expressed concern that by not condemning violence, these foreign entities are actually encouraging it. He also stated that they are urging the Georgian government not to respond to violence.
Georgia is working towards European integration and has made significant progress in recent years. The country was recently granted candidate status for EU membership after a long and difficult process.
Kobakhidze emphasized that Georgia’s strong institutions have allowed the country to maintain peace and stability despite attempts to drag it into war. He promised that the government will continue to move forward towards European integration, even in the face of artificial obstacles.
