**New Head for Georgia’s State Security Service**
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, announced the candidacy of Anri Okhanashvili to lead the country’s State Security Service. This was said during a briefing at the Government Administration.
Okhanashvili is being presented as a strong candidate. He has experience working in politics and law. Before becoming Minister of Justice, he served as a member of Parliament and Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee for many years.

The Georgian Parliament will vote on Friday to approve Okhanashvili’s candidacy. This decision was made after consulting with the Speaker of Parliament and the parliamentary majority. Okhanashvili has a strong background in law, having earned a doctoral degree from the Humboldt University of Berlin in Germany.
