New Ministry to Be Established in Georgia
The Georgian government is creating a new ministry. It will be called the Ministry of Regional Development of Georgia.
This decision was announced by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at a press conference today. He said that Grigol Liluashvili will head this new ministry.
Mr. Kobakhidze explained that the goal of this new ministry is to make sure that regional development projects are carried out efficiently and cost-effectively.
The government has already created a draft law about this new ministry. It will be discussed in Parliament next week, from April 15-18.
Grigol Liluashvili will leave his position as Head of the State Security Service. He is experienced in working with regions because he used to lead the Committee on Regional Policy and Self-Government in Parliament.
Prime Minister Kobakhidze thanked Grigol Liluashvili for his work as Head of the State Security Service. He said that Mr. Liluashvili made a significant contribution to Georgia’s national security over the past six years.
Irakli Karseladze will continue to be the Minister of Infrastructure of Georgia.
