Irakli Kobakhidze announced, during the presentation of Georgian Dream‘s election program, that the average salary in Georgia will reach 3,500 GEL by 2028.
Kobakhidze noted that the average salary has increased from 712.5 GEL in 2012 to 2,005 GEL today.
He stressed the importance of wage increases alongside employment, saying that current economic trends show a continued increase in wages.
“Alongside employment, it’s very important to raise wages. And in this regard, we had a difficult situation – in 2012, the average wage was 712.5 GEL in our country. According to the data of today, this figure is now 2005 GEL. This number has now surpassed 2000 GEL. According to current trends, the average wage will increase to 3,500 GEL in 2028.
These data are infallible because they will reflect the final budget for the country in 2024. The budget of the country increases as people pay income tax, increase their employment, increase their wages and incomes. These data and the forecast are both accurate. We can speak about 3,500 GEL by 2028.
