IRI President: Elections could be flawed and endanger EU membership

Daniel Twining, of the Institute, commented a recent statement by about the Georgian parliamentary , stressing that such errors could halt Georgia’s EU Integration, a goal shared by 90% of the population.
Senator Wicker released a statement a couple of days earlier, agreeing with President Zurabishvili that the elections had been unfair and did reflect the choice of the Georgian people. He called the elections “farce” and highlighted their lack of transparency and legality. The senator’s remarks increased international interest the Georgian elections, especially regarding their implications Georgian’s EU path.
Twining expressed his hope that the Georgian authorities would recognize the risks.
