**UN Rejects Proposal to Stop Starving Palestinians**
A group at the United Nations proposed a resolution that would have stopped Israel from starving Palestinians. The proposal was rejected, with the US using its veto power.
The UN warned that Palestinians in northern Gaza are facing very bad conditions because of an Israeli siege. France said this is against international law and called for a ceasefire. The UK also wanted an immediate stop to the fighting to help Palestinians in Gaza.
Israel says it does not agree with these accusations. The current war started when Hamas fighters entered Israel and killed over 1,200 people. They took 253 people hostage. Over 43,920 people have been killed in Gaza since then, according to the health ministry.
