**Warning for Lebanese Residents as Israeli Military Announces Ceasefire**
The Israeli military has warned residents not to return to 60 villages in southern Lebanon, after a decade of fighting. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) published a map showing the area where residents are not allowed to return, warning that anyone who does will be in danger.
**Millions Displaced as Fighting Continues**
The fighting between Israel and Lebanon has displaced over 1 million Lebanese people, mainly from the south. Tens of thousands of Israelis have also been displaced. The truce was supposed to take effect on Wednesday, but officials from both countries accused each other of breaking it.
**Airstrikes and Artillery Fired by Israeli Military**
On Thursday, the IDF announced that its forces had carried out airstrikes and fired artillery against targets in southern Lebanon. They claimed that this was in response to Hezbollah activity and vehicles arriving in various areas, which they said breached a ceasefire. However, Lebanon accused Israel of violating the agreement “multiple” times.
**Multinational Monitoring Group Established**
As part of the ceasefire deal, a multinational monitoring group has been established to ensure compliance with its terms. This includes representatives from the US and France, as well as the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
**Israeli Prime Minister Warns of “Intensive War”**
In an interview after the ceasefire declaration, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that if Hezbollah committed a “massive” violation of the ceasefire, he would instruct the IDF to wage an “intensive war”.
