According to the Israeli military, a senior Hamas leader was killed in an airstrike in the Gaza Strip three months ago. The strike targeted an underground compound in northern Gaza, where Rawhi Mushtaha and two other Hamas commanders, Sameh Siraj and Sameh Oudeh, were hiding. There has been no response from Hamas yet. The military stated that the three commanders were using the fortified compound as a command center and that Mushtaha was a close associate of Yahya Sinwar, the top leader of Hamas. Sinwar is believed to still be alive and in hiding in Gaza. This airstrike was in response to the Oct. 7 attack into Israel that sparked the recent conflict.
