Russia Wants Ukraine to Surrender for Peace Talks
A top Russian businessman, Konstantin Malofeev, says that Russian President Vladimir Putin will only consider peace talks with Ukraine if certain conditions are met. These conditions include Ukraine giving up and the US making big concessions.
Malofeev is a close friend of Putin’s and has said that Russia wants to use this war to strengthen its ties with other countries like China, Iran, and North Korea. He also claims that the war has helped boost Russia’s economy and defense industry.
However, experts say that Russia’s economy is actually struggling due to high inflation, international sanctions, and a shortage of workers. If the war continues, things could get even worse for Russia in 2025.
Malofeev wants Ukraine to stop using Western weapons to fight back against Russia. He also says that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy should be removed from office as part of any peace deal. This would require US President-elect Donald Trump to meet with Putin and discuss European security and a growing alliance between Russia and China.
