**US Senator Speaks Out on Georgia’s Democracy**
American Senator James Risch from the Republican Party spoke to Congress about the situation in Georgia. He said that the tactics used by the Georgian government are similar to those used in Russia.
The senator described these tactics as cruel, involving torture and arrests. He said this is not what the people of Georgia want. According to him, the Georgian Constitution says that the country wants to join the European Union and NATO. A survey also shows that about 80% of Georgians support joining these organizations.
**Concerns Over Government Behavior**
Senator Risch expressed concern over the behavior of the current government, known as “Georgian Dream”. He said they are increasingly arresting and torturing peaceful protesters. However, he still has hope for Georgia‘s future.
The senator reminded that a bill was passed which allows the Biden administration to impose sanctions on people who should be sanctioned. He urged the administration to take action and follow this law.
**Supporting Georgian Democracy**
Senator Risch wants to support Georgia’s democratic aspirations. He believes the Georgian people do not want to return to the Soviet Union or Russia, but instead want to turn towards the West and join the European Union and NATO.
