**U.S. Congressman Invites Georgian President to Inauguration**
A U.S. congressman has invited the president of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, to attend Donald Trump‘s inauguration in 2017.
Joe Wilson, a Republican and chairman of the Helsinki Commission, made the invitation on his social media page. He wrote that he was “grateful” to invite President Zurabishvili because she is the “only legitimate leader in Georgia”.
Wilson also praised President Zurabishvili for her courage in the face of opposition from another Georgian politician, Ivanishvili, and countries like China and Iran.
The invitation comes after a tense period in Georgia’s politics. President Zurabishvili has been involved in conflicts with other politicians, including Ivanishvili.
