The US Helsinki Commission released a statement about this. Wilson, the Chairman of the Commission, expressed his support for President Zurabishvili as well as the Georgian people.
“Yesterday President Zurabishvili and the representatives of Georgian opposition announced to the world that the results in the parliamentary elections of Georgia were illegitimate. He called on the Georgians to protest and he asked for the support from the international community while they fight to save the chosen pathway to democracy and Euroatlantic integration,” he says. Joe Wilson says that he is constantly monitoring the global situation.
“I stand with President Zurabishvili, the Georgian people and the Georgian Dream Government in this struggle. I warn the Georgian Dream Government not to use violence against protesters. Joe Wilson says, “The world is watching.”
