US Congressman Joe Wilson spoke out against the Georgian government, calling it a threat to freedom in the US and worldwide. He made these comments at a panel discussion at the Hudson Institute.
Wilson accused Bidzina Ivanishvili of being a puppet leader controlled by war criminal Vladimir Putin, the Chinese Communist Party, and the regime in Tehran. He said this makes him a dictator “in waiting” for Georgia.
Ivanishvili’s government is trying to sell out to foreign powers, Wilson claimed. This includes handing over plans for a deep-water port to China, rather than working with the European Union or the US.
Wilson also criticized Ivanishvili’s prime minister for meeting with the Iranian regime at a time when they were planning attacks on key targets, including former US Ambassador Nikki Haley and President Donald Trump.
