EU Ministers Make Decision About Georgia
The European Union’s Foreign Ministers have decided to send a team of experts to Georgia. This team, called a “technical mission“, will be made up of people from the EU’s External Action Service and the European Commission.
The purpose of this team is not yet clear. But it is thought that they might look at how well Georgia’s elections were run last month. Some people have said that these elections were unfair.
The situation in Georgia has been causing concern among EU officials. Many people protested against the election results, which they believed had been rigged. The EU wants to know what happened and how to stop it from happening again in the future.
The OSCE (a group that helps countries with their elections) will tell the EU team about the situation. This is part of a wider discussion among EU Foreign Ministers about how to respond to Georgia’s democratic problems.
