In a video posted to his Telegram account, Ramzan Kadyrov claimed that three Russian lawmakers were plotting against him. He warned them that he would start a blood feud if they didn’t prove their innocence.
Kadyrov told other officials in the North Caucasian Republic that there were witnesses and people who they had tried to commission. They also asked them how much they wanted to charge the order.
Kadyrov identified three lawmakers from the neighboring Dagestan, Ingushetia and Bekhan Barakhoyev as being potentially behind the plot.
The accusation was made in relation to an incident that occurred in September at the Moscow headquarters for Wildberries, Russia’s biggest online retailer. In this incident, two people were killed, and several others arrested.
Wildberries’ press said that the fight started when Vladislav Bakalchuk (the estranged spouse of Tatiana Kim, formerly Bakalchuk) tried to “illegally enter” the building with his guards.
Meduza, a Russian independent media outlet, reported that Kim claimed Bakalchuk and Sergey Anufriev had tried to seize the offices, along with former chairman of board of directors Vladimir Bakin.
Several of the people involved, including those who were killed, are from the North Caucasus. Kadyrov previously stated that he supported Vladislav Bakalchuk in his efforts to stop the planned merger between Wildberries and another company.
Kadyrov made his first public comments since the deadly business dispute.
In a post accompanying the video in Russian, the Chechen leader said, “if anyone has any complaints about Kadyrovites they should come to my office, as I am a main Kadyrovite.” The term is used to describe Chechen troops fighting under Kadyrov.
Kadyrov stated that anyone who believes it is possible to pit nations against one another on domestic grounds, is mistaken. He was referring to the allegations that Chechens are behind the Wildberries dispute.
There is no problem if you have a question for me. “I am waiting!” He concluded.
