Kakha Kaladze is the general secretary of the “Georgian Dream”, and the mayor of Tbilisi. She stated that the radical opposition would try to create tension and confusion in the country but relevant services were committed to maintaining peace.
In response to the State Security Service’s warning about the potential distribution of falsified recordings by opposition-affiliated groups, Kaladze expressed confidence in the ability of security services to uphold order. He said that the current calm atmosphere during the elections is not in line with the opposition agenda.
“The radical opposition is going to do everything they can to create tension, controversy and chaos in the country.” Our relevant services will always be at the forefront of the call, and do everything possible to maintain peace in the nation,” Kaladze stated.
He emphasized the peaceful conduct of the campaign: “You can see how elections are going.” The current situation in the country, and the election campaign that is taking place, is a welcome one. All political parties are able to campaign without excessiveness.
Kaladze stressed the importance of a peaceful atmosphere for voters: “I’m sure that the people of our country will choose the right thing, which will be to maintain the peace in the country and to develop the country economically.”
The State Security Service issued a recent statement warning that groups with ties to political circles could distribute false audio and video recordings in an attempt to incite conflict between government branches, and undermine relationships with the Orthodox church and Western partners.
