Russia’s Drone Attack on Ukraine
On the night of November 14, Russia launched a large-scale drone attack on multiple Ukrainian oblasts. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 59 Shahed-type drones and other unidentified unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were sent from Kursk.
Most of these drones were intercepted by air defense systems in Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, and Kyiv areas. Out of the 59 drones launched, 21 were successfully shot down. The remaining 38 drones were reportedly lost to tracking, with officials suggesting that electronic warfare systems likely neutralized them.
The attacks resulted in power outages across several settlements in the Kharkiv Oblast after a high-voltage power line was damaged. Energy workers are working to restore power supply.
In Sumy, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 11 Russian drones over the oblast. No casualties or damage were reported in Sumy or other oblasts where air defense systems were active.
A drone also attacked the main building of a university named after Putin in Chechnya, causing a roof fire. However, the head of Chechnya, Kadyrov, downplayed the incident and did not mention Putin’s name.
