Irakli Kobakhidze, the leader of Georgia’s ruling party, recently stated that Ukraine’s path to EU membership will be a long one due to a specific legal document that requires all obligations to be fulfilled before a country can join the EU. This applies to all countries, including Georgia and Moldova. However, Georgia plans to submit a document to the EU in 2024, as they believe they will have fulfilled a significant portion of their obligations by then. Kobakhidze also mentioned that preliminary discussions with EU officials have indicated that the offer of membership is more relevant to Ukraine, which is currently at war, rather than Moldova and Georgia.
