Serbian Accession to EU: Confidence in Meeting Requirements
A European Commissioner has expressed confidence that Serbia will meet the requirements needed to open a new stage of talks with the European Union.
Marta Kos, the commissioner for enlargement, said she trusts that Serbia will fulfill all the necessary conditions. This was after she had a meeting with Serbian European Integration Minister Tanja Miscevic.
The main topic of their conversation was Serbia’s accession to the EU. Commissioner Kos described their discussion as “very frank and concrete”.
She also emphasized that joining the EU is not just about the government, but about the whole society. This includes opposition groups, civil organizations, businesses, and more.
Serbia has several areas where it needs to improve before opening this new stage of talks. These include information technology, taxation, and social policy.
