**Russia Unsure of US President’s Deal Proposal**
The Russian government will have to figure out what US President Donald Trump means by “deal” before entering into negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.
This comes after Trump threatened to impose economic penalties on Russia if it doesn’t make a deal to stop the war. He said that if no agreement is reached, he would put high taxes, tariffs, and sanctions on anything sold by Russia to the US and other countries.
Russian Deputy U.N. Ambassador Dmitry Polyanskiy responded by saying that Moscow needs to know what Trump’s goals are before making any agreements. “It’s not just about ending the war,” he said. “We have to see what does the ‘deal’ mean in President Trump’s understanding.”
Trump has been promising to put an end to the conflict in Ukraine, but so far, he hasn’t presented a detailed plan for peace. His comments on Russia have also taken a harder line.
Polyanskiy pointed out that if Russia enters into negotiations without knowing what Trump means by “deal”, it could be setting itself up for failure. “We can do it the easy way or the hard way,” he said, referring to the possibility of economic sanctions.
The situation remains unclear, with Russia continuing to occupy four Ukrainian regions and dismissing any reported peace proposals from the US administration.
