**Ukraine and Denmark Launch Defense Production Initiative**

The Ukrainian defense industry is set to take a significant step forward with the launch of a new production initiative in Denmark. On June 24, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov signed a Letter of Intent with his Danish counterpart Troels Lund Poulsen to facilitate the deployment of Ukrainian defense companies in Denmark.

This agreement marks a major milestone in the development of Ukraine’s defense industry, which has been hindered by Russia’s ongoing invasion. The “Build with Ukraine” initiative aims to integrate Ukrainian defense industries into the European system, making it easier for Ukrainian companies to produce and export defense equipment.

Denmark has already allocated $47 million for this project, and further funding is expected from Ukraine’s partners. This move is a testament to Denmark’s commitment to supporting Ukraine in its time of need. As Defense Minister Umerov stated, “I thank the Danish government for its trust, steadfast support of Ukraine, and commitment to developing a deep partnership between our countries.”

The agreement between Ukraine and Denmark also provides for coordination between the Danish Defense Ministry, Business and Industry Ministry, and Foreign Ministry to integrate Ukrainian enterprises into the European defense system. This will not only enhance the security of Ukraine and Europe but also provide an opportunity for Danish companies to access cutting-edge technologies from Ukraine.

**A Model for Cooperation**

Denmark’s pioneering efforts in supporting Ukraine by investing in its defense industry have created a model that others can follow. The so-called “Danish model” involves purchasing arms for Ukraine from Ukrainian producers, with Copenhagen providing around $9.8 billion in military aid under its Ukraine Fund for the years 2023-2028.

This initiative is a prime example of how countries can work together to support each other’s defense industries and enhance regional security. As Danish Defense Minister Poulsen noted, “By providing Ukrainian defense companies the opportunity to start production in Denmark, we are creating a basis for close cooperation between defense companies in both countries.”

**A Bright Future Ahead**

The launch of this defense production initiative marks an exciting new chapter in Ukraine’s defense industry. With the support of partners like Denmark, Ukraine can now focus on developing its capabilities and producing high-quality defense equipment.

As the security landscape continues to evolve, it is clear that collaboration between nations will be key to addressing emerging threats. The Ukrainian-Danish partnership serves as a shining example of how countries can work together to build stronger, more secure futures for all.
