**Ukraine Media Outlets in Crisis**
The US aid freeze has left three independent Ukrainian media outlets without funding. The Kyiv Independent is launching a fundraiser to help them stay on the air.
**Why the Aid Freeze Matters**
US President Donald Trump’s executive order suspended foreign aid programs for 90 days. This affected many organizations in Ukraine, including those that provide humanitarian services and local news. The smaller, independent media outlets were hit the hardest.
**The Three Media Outlets**
Tsukr from Sumy, Gwara Media from Kharkiv, and MykVisti from Mykolaiv are the three media outlets struggling to stay afloat. They are small teams working in difficult conditions, often on very small salaries, driven by their loyalty to the local community.
**The Goal**
The Kyiv Independent is aiming to raise $50,000 (40,000 pounds) through GoFundMe. This will allow the newsrooms to pay their journalists, keep the lights on, and continue their reporting. The Kyiv Independent has already donated $10,000 of its own money to the fundraiser.
**How Your Donation Will Help**
The raised funds will be shared equally among the three media outlets. Here’s how your donation will help each one:
* Tsukr: Cover almost two months of operations and prevent a 60% funding slash.
* Gwara Media: Cover 50% of their budget gap and prevent a halt in reporting.
* MykVisti: Cover two months of work and ensure the community continues to receive life-saving news.
**Make a Donation**
You can make a donation via GoFundMe here. The Kyiv Independent is grateful for your support.
