**Russia’s Aggression Continues: Kyiv Says Moscow Fired 70 Missiles, 2,200 Drones at Ukraine**
In a disturbing trend that continues to plague the region, Russia has launched 70 missiles, 2,200 Shahed-type drones, and 6,000 guided aerial bombs against Ukraine since March 11, when Kyiv and Washington agreed on a temporary truce. This is according to Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, who made the announcement on April 11.
The situation is particularly concerning given that Ukrainian officials had agreed to a U.S.-proposed full 30-day ceasefire during talks in Jeddah, provided Russia abided by the conditions. However, Moscow has rejected the deal unless it includes conditions undermining Ukraine’s defenses, specifically a full halt on foreign military aid.
**Russia’s Actions Reflect Its True Intentions**
Sybiha’s statement highlights the reality of Russia’s intentions: “From March 11 to April 11, Russia shot at Ukraine almost 70 missiles of various types, over 2,200 Shahed drones, and more than 6,000 guided aerial bombs.” He emphasized that these attacks were a response to peace proposals, adding, “These were Russian responses to peace proposals. This is typical of Russia: lying, manipulating, and continuing terror.”
**Recent Attacks on Ukrainian Cities and Towns**
The past few weeks have seen deadly missile and drone attacks against Ukrainian cities and towns. On April 10, a ballistic missile attack killed one civilian and injured nine in Dnipro, while a drone strike in Zhytomyr Oblast killed one and injured six.
**Limited Truce Fails to Stop Attacks**
Despite the failure to conclude a full ceasefire, the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine agreed on a limited truce covering strikes against energy facilities and Black Sea operations following talks in Saudi Arabia in late March. However, this truce has also failed to put a stop to continued attacks.
**Russia’s Obstacles to Peace**
Sybiha’s statement underscores that Moscow is the primary obstacle to peace: “For one month already, there may have been silence and confidence-building measures to advance the fair peace that the U.S., European, and other partners wish to achieve.” He emphasized that Russia is the only source of war.
**U.S. Frustration with Russian Delays**
The delays in Russia’s commitments have caused frustration in Washington, with U.S. President Donald Trump expressing his anger over stalled peace talks and attacks on President Volodymyr Zelensky‘s credibility.
