**Ukraine Welcomes Nomination of US General as Peace Envoy**
The Ukrainian government has welcomed the nomination of retired US General Keith Kellogg as a special peace envoy for Ukraine. According to Heorhii Tykhyi, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, there is already “a good dialogue” between Kyiv and General Kellogg.
General Kellogg was chosen by President-elect Donald Trump for the role. Mr. Trump sees him as someone who can lead negotiations to end Russia‘s full-scale war with Ukraine.
**Background on General Kellogg**
The 80-year-old General has had close ties with Ukraine in recent years. He previously served as the executive secretary and chief of staff of the US National Security Council under President Trump. General Kellogg also advised then-Vice President Mike Pence.
Ukrainian delegations have met with General Kellogg on several occasions. He was even present at a speech by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington earlier this year.
**Ukraine Looks Forward to Working with General Kellogg**
Mr. Tykhyi said that the Ukrainian government is looking forward to working with General Kellogg and establishing close contact with him in his new role.
