**Ukraine‘s Largest Telecom Operator Partners with Starlink**
Kyivstar, Ukraine’s largest telecommunications operator, has signed an agreement to become one of the first countries with access to Starlink’s direct-to-cell service. This partnership is expected to improve Ukraine’s national communications infrastructure.
The new service will allow Kyivstar to launch messaging services by the end of 2025, followed by voice and data transmission. This move comes as telecom companies in Ukraine have experienced network outages due to hacks and blackouts during the war.
**Investment in Ukraine**
Kyivstar’s parent company, Veon, has invested over $10 billion in Ukraine since 2013. The company has committed to investing another $1 billion in restoring digital infrastructure by 2027.
**Starlink’s Role in Ukraine**
SpaceX‘s Starlink satellite internet terminals have played a crucial role in securing communications in the war-torn country. Last year, it was reported that approximately 42,000 terminals were in operation across the military, hospitals, businesses, and aid organizations.
