Sir Keir Starmer, the leader of the UK’s Labour Party, has stated that he will support Ukraine in negotiations with former US President Donald Trump. This statement was made ahead of a week of diplomatic efforts, including a visit by Sir Keir to the White House and a meeting between French President Emmanuel Macron and Trump.
Sir Keir also acknowledged that Trump had been correct in stating that European nations must take greater responsibility for their security and increase defense spending. He emphasized that the UK should be prepared to play its role if a force is required in Ukraine once a peace agreement has been reached.
The BBC reports that Sir Keir made these comments during a speech at the Scottish Labour Conference in Glasgow, where he also expressed his support for Ukraine’s leader, Volodymyr Zelensky.
