**Russia’s Economic Grip on Abkhazia Tightens**
Abkhazia, a region occupied by Russia, is experiencing rapid economic annexation. The situation has become more complicated since Georgia’s parliamentary elections. This is happening in the background of long-standing resistance from the Abkhazian people.
The ratification of an investment agreement between Russia and Abkhazia is underway in the so-called parliament of Abkhazia. According to Lana Galdava, a member of the “Strong Georgia” coalition, this represents the continuation of crimes against Georgia by Russia.
**Georgian Dream‘s Silence Damages Policy**
Galdava says that “Georgian Dream”, with its silence and anti-state messages, damages the policy of non-recognition. The party does not take real steps towards a peace policy.
The authorities in Georgia are being called upon to explain their silence on this issue. Galdava wants to know why they are not making statements or taking international action against Russia’s economic annexation in Abkhazia.
**Lack of Vision and Strategy**
Galdava points out that the “Georgian Dream” has no vision, strategies, short-term, or long-term action plans for restoring territorial integrity and de-occupation. This is proof of their criminal inaction.
A common national vision for de-occupation and peaceful conflict resolution was supposed to be developed by 2021, but this has not happened. The state strategy for occupied territories from 2010 has also not been updated.
