**Opposition Forms Joint Information Center**
On December 5, four main opposition groups in Georgia announced a joint information center. The Coalition for Change, Strong Georgia, Gakharia for Georgia, and Unity-UNM said the center will start working immediately.
The center’s goal is to provide accurate updates on the opposition’s actions, plans, and decisions. It aims to keep the public informed about what’s happening with the opposition.
**Opposition Leaders Speak Out**
At a briefing, opposition leaders expressed support for those arrested during protests between November 28 and December 4. They said the police had used excessive force and accused them of being part of an “illegitimate regime.”
Zurab Japaridze, leader of the Coalition for Change, criticized the police raids on political and civil organizations. He said reports that Molotov cocktails were found were false and had been fabricated by the police.
**Calls for Release**
The opposition leaders demanded the release of detainees who have been transferred to regions outside of Tbilisi due to overcrowding in detention centers in the capital city. They called for new elections, saying they are committed to challenging the “illegitimate regime.”
**International Pressure**
The ongoing protests in Georgia have attracted attention from around the world. International partners like the Baltic States have imposed sanctions on government officials linked to violence during the protests.
The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights has urged Georgian authorities to respect human rights and investigate recent brutality by riot police.
