**Lawyer: Court‘s Decision is Illegal**
The Batumi City Court has fined Mzia Amaghlobeli, founder of the publications “Batumelebi” and “Netgazeti“, 2000 GEL for an administrative offense. However, lawyer Giorgi Khimshiashvili says this decision is not just wrong – it’s also illegal.
According to Giorgi Khimshiashvili, all the agencies involved in Mzia Amaghlobeli’s case are “absolutely repressive”. He believes that the judicial system and the government have been working together to punish her since her initial detention on January 11. Mzia was detained during a protest near the Batumi police headquarters, released two hours later, and then detained again under criminal law just minutes after her release.
Giorgi Khimshiashvili sees today’s decision as proof that the process against Mzia Amaghlobeli is biased and aimed at punishment rather than justice. He believes that the court’s ruling is a result of this repressive approach.
Mzia Amaghlobeli was found guilty of an administrative offense by the Batumi City Court, which imposed a fine of 2000 GEL.
