Why did the Central Election Commission, on behalf of the “Unity National Movement”, issue the relevant legal act as well as accreditation to the person under criminal investigation?
He noted that Malkevich’s stay in Georgia was understandable because “he is currently under international criminal investigations in the United States of America, Canada, and his primary accusation is participation in the election of these countries, propagation of Russian influence, and acting in favor of Russia.”
“It has been reported that Russian propagandist Aleksandre Malkevich, who was in the territory Georgia during the election, was allowed to enter the country by the border police in gross violation of Georgia’s law on occupation. The man’s intent is clear. He is wanted by international criminal justice in Canada and the United States. His main charges included participation in elections in these countries, propagandizing Russian influence and acting to favor Russia. It is therefore easy to understand the tasks that the Russian propagandist was assigned in the Georgian election. In this case, the Central Election Commission played a role in these processes. We demand that the Prosecutor‘s Office of Georgia investigates who gave the instructions and how the relevant accreditation and legal act was issued to the individual under criminal investigation. We also request that the goals of the person in question during the Georgian election be investigated. Our international partners have spoken about the Russian influence in the Georgian parliamentary election. We demand that the pro-Western Georgian opposition investigate the Russian influence in the 2024 Georgian parliamentary elections. As in 2012, Russia conducted an operation in Georgia based on Ivanishvili’s Georgian Dream. This scheme requires an investigation both from within the country as well as international factors”, stated Levan Bezhashvili, one of the leaders in the “Unity National Movement”.
