Court Confirms Embezzlement by Ex-President Saakashvili
The court has confirmed that former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili spent 9 million GEL of public money on personal expenses. This includes Botox, weight loss treatments, and hair care.
Saakashvili was sentenced to 9 years in prison for embezzlement. Another man, Teimuraz Janashia, was fined 300,000 GEL as part of the same case.
The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration, Levan Makhashvili, said that Saakashvili came to power promising to defeat corruption. However, he ended up misusing public funds for personal gain.
