**British Sanctions: A Message to Georgian Judges**
The British government has imposed sanctions on Georgia. This is the opinion of Levan Murusidze, a judge at the Court of Appeal and member of the High Council of Justice. He does not think that these sanctions are related to corruption.
According to Mr. Murusidze, the goal of the British sanctions is to control the Georgian judicial system. This would allow foreign countries to make decisions in Georgia that fit their global politics. It’s not about fighting corruption, but rather about making sure that judges make decisions that suit others’ interests.
Mr. Murusidze thinks it’s no surprise that he has been targeted. He believes that the British government wants to show its power and control over Georgian judges who do not obey them. As for him personally, he is not financially affected by the sanctions because his salary cannot be withheld.
In Mr. Murusidze’s words, “I have nothing but a payroll card.” He also made it clear that no one richer than him walks around in Georgia. This was a reaction to suggestions of corruption related to the British sanctions.
