Parliament Supports Liquidating Public Service Bureau
The Parliament has voted in favor of a new law that will shut down the Public Service Bureau on April 1, 2025. The Bureau’s tasks and responsibilities will be handed over to the Government Administration.
A special commission will be set up by the government within 10 days of the law being passed. This commission will oversee the process of shutting down the Bureau. Employees who lose their jobs because of this change will get one month’s pay as compensation.
The Public Service Bureau is involved in a project to reform public administration, which is led by the Government Administration. It also runs a website that shows job openings within the public service and helps make it more accessible.
Parliamentary Secretary Vakhtang Bachiaashvili said during discussions that the Bureau was no longer needed because of cost savings and its role in implementing public service reform. He stated, “After certain analysis, it has been assessed that the Bureau, functioning as a legal entity under public law, is no longer necessary.”
