As part of the international Demining Coalition, Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurynas Kaciunas has delivered 230 pickups and 240 mine-detectors to Kyiv.
Rustem Umerov, Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, reports that Lithuania has provided Ukraine 230 pickup trucks as well as 240 mine detectors in support of the international Demining Coalition.
Ukraine is one of the most heavily mined countries on the planet. Up to 23% of the country‘s land could be contaminated with explosive remnants of warfare and mines. The clearing of these areas allows people to return safely to their homes and resume their normal activities, without the threat posed by landmines. Diverse countries and organizations provide funding and resources to humanitarian demining efforts

The vehicles will be used to demine humanitarian areas in order to protect the lives and safety of Ukrainian citizens. Demining teams will also be able to move more easily.
The Demining Coalition now has approximately 20 members, with Greece as the newest member. It operates on two fronts, humanitarian demining within liberated territories, and combat demining with Russian forces along the front lines.
In October, Lithuania gave 14 M113 armored vehicles to Ukraine in order to help it with its demining efforts.
Prodrone, a Japanese drone manufacturer, has pledged to provide Ukraine with advanced drones for humanitarian demining. These drones will be operating near the ground and use AI to detect mines and mark them on interactive maps.
The Swiss also helped Ukraine in its demining efforts, providing heavy GCS 200 mine-clearing vehicles capable of clearing both anti-personnel mines and anti-tank ones.
