Lithuania’s Prime Minister Makes It Clear: No Negotiations Without Ukraine‘s Victory
The Prime Minister of Lithuania, Gintautas Paluckas, has said that any potential talks between Ukraine and Russia must be held under the condition of Ukraine’s victory. This was announced on December 20 by UkrInform.
Paluckas made his statement after US President-elect Donald Trump expressed a desire to end the war in Ukraine quickly. However, it is unclear how Trump will convince Russia to start negotiations.
Paluckas visited Kyiv and met with Ukrainian officials. He said that Lithuania believes strongly that Ukraine should win the war. The Lithuanian government is actively working towards this goal, according to reports.
The Prime Minister emphasized that putting pressure on Ukraine to make peace quickly would be wrong. He said that such a deal would only provide a temporary pause, until Russia’s next act of aggression. This would put both Ukraine and Europe in danger, Paluckas warned.
He also stated that Lithuania will continue to support Ukraine within NATO. The country will provide military, economic, political, and humanitarian aid to help Ukraine win the war.
Paluckas said that without Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO, a united, free, and peaceful Europe is not possible. He stressed that countries supporting Ukraine should remain firm in their commitment to helping Ukraine achieve victory.
