**Lithuanian Human Rights Defender Denied Entry into Georgia**
Regina Jegorova-Askerova, a Lithuanian human rights defender living in Georgia for 15 years, was not allowed to enter the country on March 20. This happened despite being a permanent resident of Georgia.
Jegorova-Askerova is the regional director for the South Caucasus of Kvinna till Kvinna (Women for Women), a Swedish women’s rights organization. She has been living in Georgia with her husband and two children.
In her Facebook post, Jegorova-Askerova mentioned that she was given no explanation for being denied entry. The document handed to her cited “other cases envisaged by Georgian legislation” as the reason. This is a common excuse used in past cases when activists and journalists were banned from entering Georgia.
Jegorova-Askerova sees this incident as a sign of where Georgia stands today, saying it clearly shows what kind of country Georgia has become.
