**Drone Attack Hits Russian City**
Explosions were heard in the city of Aleksin, Tula Oblast, on January 14. Local media reported that at least 10 explosions were heard in different parts of the city.
The Tula region is home to over 1.5 million people and is located south of Moscow. The local governor claimed there were no casualties from the attack, but this could not be verified by The Kyiv Independent.
**Previous Attack on Chemical Plant**
Just hours before the Aleksin attack, a chemical plant in Bryansk Oblast was reportedly damaged in an aerial attack. This attack occurred on January 13, just before the drone strike on Aleksin.
**Increased Strikes on Russian Territory**
Aleksin is located about 80 miles from Moscow, indicating that strikes are reaching deeper into Russian territory. Ukraine regularly targets military sites inside Russia to reduce its ability to wage war against Ukraine.
