**Serbian Officials Attack Protesters**
A group of protesters driving through a village in eastern Serbia were stopped and attacked by local officials. The incident happened on the evening news time on pro-government TV stations.
The protesters were observing the “Noise Against Dictatorship” protest when their convoy was stopped in front of the house of SNS councilor Neli Nikolic. His father was on the street, shouting at the drivers. Video footage shows that the father and other officials started a fight, which turned into a physical assault.
The attackers included Nikolic himself, who was seen grabbing phones from two girls recording the incident. He also punched one protester and knocked down another. Another SNS official joined in, pounding on the hood of a car with a rock.
Police arrived to stop more fighting and prevent an attack on a local reporter by the officials and their supporters.
The mayor of Zajecar, Bosko Nicic, responded with anger on Facebook. He claimed that Nikolic’s family was attacked in a nearby village and threatened retaliation.
