Lviv Airport Could Reopen in Late Spring, General Director Says
The general director of Lviv’s Danylo Halytskyi International Airport says the airport may reopen as early as April or May this year. This is according to an optimistic scenario being considered by the government.
Aviation operations could resume in the summer months if everything goes as planned. The general director, Tetiana Romanovska, said that several airlines have already expressed interest in starting operations at Lviv Airport once it reopens.
Some of these airlines include Wizz Air, Air Baltic, Turkish Airlines, SkyUp, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, and LOT. These companies are preparing to start operating from Lviv as soon as the terminal reopens.
Romanovska said that once a decision is made to reopen airspace, airline teams could arrive at the airport and begin operations within three to four days.
Ukraine’s Government Considers Reopening Uzhhorod Airport
The government is also considering reopening another airport in western Ukraine, located directly on the border with Slovakia. This airport, known as Uzhhorod Airport, is close to the borders of Hungary and Poland, both of which are NATO member countries.
