**US and Ukraine Leaders Fail to Reach Deal**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with US President Donald Trump at the White House. They were supposed to sign a deal about Ukraine’s natural resources, but it did not happen.
Zelensky said that supporting Ukraine and punishing Russia was still the right decision today. He thanked people who helped and respected those who have been fighting since the start of the conflict.
The meeting ended without an agreement after a 45-minute press conference between Zelensky and Trump became heated. They argued about US aid to Ukraine and the conditions of a potential peace deal with Russia.
After the talks, Trump said that Zelensky was not ready for peace and accused him of being rude in the Oval Office. Zelensky left early without signing any deals.
**European Leaders Push for Security Guarantees**
French President Emmanuel Macron visited Washington to convince Trump to make a promise to keep Ukraine safe after a war. But he did not get any clear promises from Trump, according to an EU official.
Macron’s visit was seen as unsuccessful by some people. They think it was a waste of time because no progress was made on the issue of security guarantees.
The security guarantees are important because they might be needed if there is a ceasefire and a European-led peacekeeping force is deployed in Ukraine.
