**Ukrainian Woman Celebrates Christmas in the UK with Mixed Feelings**
A Ukrainian woman living in the UK is feeling mixed emotions about celebrating Christmas this year. Svetlana Tseneko, who lives in Maidenhead with her teenage daughter, has been away from Ukraine since Russia‘s invasion in February 2022.
**Refugee Life in the UK**
Svetlana initially stayed with a host family in Windsor before finding her own home in Maidenhead. This is her third Christmas spent in Berkshire. She said that while she wants to celebrate Christmas, she feels sorry for those who are not at home and on the front line.
**Focus on Joy**
Svetlana’s focus is on making the most of this festive season with her family. Her daughter has settled into a local school and they plan to enjoy the celebrations together. Svetlana hopes that focusing on joy will help them stay optimistic about the future.
**Support for Ukraine**
Some Ukrainian children in Berkshire were able to celebrate their own traditions earlier this month. The Reading Ukrainian Community Centre organized an event where St Nicholas gave presents to all the children. The centre is also sending aid supplies, including gifts for an orphanage near the front line.
