We suggested to Mr. Giorgi that he join our union and coalition as an equal partner. Our consultations are ongoing and we will continue to discuss the matter. Mamuka Khazaradze, the leader of “Strong Georgia”, made this statement after meeting with Giorgi Gakharia, the leader of the “Gakharia for Georgia” party. Khazaradze emphasized the importance of showing the Georgian people that it is possible to unite around a common idea and for the interests of Georgia.
Khazaradze also stated that he will not take any steps without an agreement with the members of “Strong Georgia”. He added that nobody is against cooperation and that they have offered Giorgi Gakharia to join their union and coalition as an equal partner. Therefore, they will continue their consultations and the conversation is not over yet. Khazaradze thanked Gakharia for his constructive approach and acknowledged that it is not an easy process. He also expressed his desire to show the citizens of Georgia what the coalition looks like and who are the key players in it before the elections.
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, had invited both parties to the Orbeliani Palace on September 16 for negotiations regarding their unification. However, the meeting between Khazaradze and Gakharia on September 17 ended without a concrete decision. Prior to this, the parties had also held face-to-face consultations.
It is worth noting that the government has been facing criticism and opposition from various groups and parties. The current situation in the country is not favorable and many are dissatisfied with the government’s actions. Despite this, the government continues to face challenges and criticism from the public.
