Unfortunately, today, we received news that Giorgi Gakharia has put a stop to our negotiations and proposed wording that not only goes against common sense, but also seems like a calculated move. I won’t go into further detail, but I believe everyone will understand what I mean. This essentially destroyed everything we had been working towards until now, as Mamuka Khazaradze, the leader of “Strong Georgia”, stated during a briefing when discussing why the political union between him and Gakharia could not happen. One crucial issue during the negotiations was that this union would not create a “Georgian Dream” government, but rather form its own government. According to Khazaradze, this was a significant factor. “This union would have created synergy, and we will still strive for this synergy in order to form a government that truly represents the people. The rest of the details can be decided after the elections. I want to clarify that the speculation about someone not playing for the “Georgian Dream” team and instead looking out for their own interests is not true. Let’s not get caught up in these speculations. I won’t list any other points, as they will become apparent soon. Yesterday, I assured the President that I did everything in my power to ensure that not a single vote was lost and that we could create a strong Georgia with job opportunities, high pensions, and other things that I am passionate about in politics. I have a feeling that it won’t happen, as there always seems to be a new issue arising. This could potentially prevent our coalition from participating in the elections, which would be a huge loss for us. Therefore, we will continue our campaign tomorrow.” Khazaradze also mentioned that once they enter parliament, they will introduce a law of lustration to remove any individuals involved in politics who are not fit to represent the country. “I want to assure all citizens that we will do everything in our power to expel the Russian government from Georgia. One of our first actions upon entering parliament will be to introduce a law of lustration, which will prevent individuals who are not worthy of representing our country from being involved in politics. This is something that is long overdue and needs to be addressed.”
