Mamuka Khazaradze, the leader of Lelo – Strong Georgia party, was granted a 50,000-GEL bail. He is accused of not following an order from the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Georgian Parliament.
A judge at Tbilisi City Court made this decision. He gave Khazaradze 30 days to pay the bail.
Khazaradze was called to talk to the Temporary Investigative Commission on March 25, but he did not show up. Later, he talked to a magistrate judge about it.
The court discussed whether or not Khazaradze should be released from jail without any conditions. The state wanted him to pay a 50,000-GEL bail, while his lawyers wanted him to be released without any restrictions.
Khazaradze himself was present at the hearing. He is charged with breaking Article 349 of the Criminal Code. This article says that if someone does not follow an order from the Temporary Investigative Commission, they can get a fine or spend up to one year in jail.
